Latest update:

It was a match in which almost literally every player was on edge. Ten Turks and eight Austrians had already collected a yellow card at the European Championship and therefore had to watch their step. Not everyone succeeded in this.

For Turkey, Kaan Ayhan, Ugurcan Çakir, Zeki Çelik, Arda Güler, Orkun Kökçü, Mert Günok (the goalkeeper), Mert Müldür, Salih Özcan, Kenan Yildiz and Ismail Yüksek were on the alert.

Kökçu was unable to prevent himself from missing the quarter finals with the Dutch national team. The former Feyenoord captain was already fined after eleven minutes in the match against Austria. Teammate Yüksek will also not be playing in the quarter finals against the Dutch national team. He received a yellow card just before half-time and will therefore miss the match.

Both midfielders were also taken off early against Austria. In the case of Kökçu, this was out of necessity. After shooting the ball away, the Haarlem native suffered a hamstring injury. Yüksek was also substituted by national coach Vincenzo Montella.

The question is how the midfield will look in the quarterfinals. Montella chose on Tuesday to bring Irfan Kahveci and Özcan into the team for the suspended duo. Hakan Calhanoglu will probably play again. He was absent against Austria on Tuesday due to a suspension.

On the side of Oranje, four players must watch out that they are not suspended for a possible semi-final against England or Switzerland. Jerdy Schouten, Joey Veerman, Denzel Dumfries and Donyell Malen all picked up a yellow card earlier in the tournament and have therefore been warned.
