Walid Regragui, the national coach of Morocco, has announced the final selection for the African Cup of Nations. Noussair Mazraoui, Hakim Ziyech and Ismael Saibari, among others, will travel with the North African country to Ivory Coast, where the tournament will be held.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup will be played in winter due to the climate. The matches will be played between January 13 and February 11. In the Netherlands, the matches can be followed on Ziggo Sport.

Morocco, which is in the group with Congo-Kinshasa, Tanzania and Zambia, will play for the first time on January 17. Regragui's team will then take on Tanzania. Then the matches against Congo-Kinshasa and Zambia on January 21 and 24 respectively.

The fact that Mazraoui has been included in the selection is somewhat surprising. He recently suffered a muscle injury in the Champions League match against Manchester United (0-1 win) and has not played for his club since.

In addition to Ziyech and Mazraoui, the list includes more former Eredivisie players. Tarik Tissoudali (VVV-Venlo, De Graafschap and SC Cambuur), Oussama El Azzouzi (FC Emmen and FC Groningen) and Sofyan Amrabat (FC Utrecht and Feyenoord) are also included.

Amrabat is not the only Manchester United player who will take his country to the Africa Cup. The initially hesitant André Onana will also represent his country in Ivory Coast next month.

It means that manager Erik ten Hag has to fall back on Altay Bayindir. The Turkish goalkeeper was acquired from Fenerbahçe for five million euros last summer.
