Liverpool ended their dramatic streak in the Premier League on Sunday. Jürgen Klopp’s men came to visit Tottenham Hotspur via two goals from Mohamed Salah and managed to pull them over the line by hanging and strangling. Harry Kane still made the connection goal on behalf of the Spurs, but missed the chance to equalize: 1-2. Liverpool finds the way up and ends up in eighth place. Tottenham is fourth and seems to have lost the connection with the two leaders Arsenal and Manchester City: eight and six points respectively, with one more game played.

Salah has had a difficult season in the Premier League so far, but started the game in North London with a bang. The Egyptian lifted the ball slightly after a pass from Darwin Núñez, to quickly and deadly fill it into the corner: 0-1 after eleven minutes. Tottenham came close a few minutes later via Ivan Perisic, who headed the post via a half save from Alisson. The Spurs wanted a penalty shortly afterwards for a nudge from Trent Alexander-Arnold on Ryan Sessegnon, but referee Andrew Madley waved it off.

A blunder by Eric Dier brought Salah back into position after forty minutes. The Tottenham defender headed back towards goalkeeper Hugo Lloris too softly and saw Salah intercept. The Liverpool wing striker showed the goalie with a subtle bounce: 0-2. The loot was not yet in for the Reds, who came under pressure shortly after the break. Alisson Becker made a great save in the 48th minute on a very promising header from Dier. A minute later, Perisic hit the crossbar, the second time the Croat hit the aluminum.

The Londoners did not give up and made the connection goal in the seventieth minute. Kane suddenly shot the ball towards the far corner after a pass from Dejan Kulusevski: 1-2. Tottenham’s top scorer, who has already scored eleven league goals, had the equalizer on his head in the final phase, but this time sent the ball just wide.
