Matéo Husselin has signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord, the Rotterdam team announced via the official channels. The fifteen-year-old goalkeeper has signed a three-year contract, which links him to Feyenoord until mid-2024. Husselin will play his matches next season in Feyenoord Under-17.

Husselin was born in France and moved to the Netherlands at a young age, where he started playing football at HBS Craeyenhout. Feyenoord took him away from the Hague amateur club when he was thirteen and he was part of the Under-15 last season. In the coming year, Husselin will join the Under-17 of trainer Davey van den Bergh after signing his first professional contract.

“Not only is Matéo a great talent, but also someone who everyone unanimously says that he gets the best out of himself every day in terms of work ethic,” says technical director Frank Arnesen on the Feyenoord website. “Obviously we’d love to see that. He is of course still young, but we are confident that in the coming years he will knock on the door of our promise team Feyenoord Under 21 and in the long term of Feyenoord 1.”

“Since I played at Feyenoord Academy, I’ve made leaps and bounds,” Husselin admits. “I see this contract as a nice reward for the progress I have made. I’m looking forward to next season in Under-17 where I want to show even more of myself.”
