Patrick Kluivert is open to becoming head coach or 'transfer man' at Ajax, the former striker tells Rondo by Ziggo. Kluivert has been free since leaving Adana Demirspor at the end of 2023. So far he has not spoken to Ajax, he indicates.

“I am not here to claim a vacancy now,” says Kluivert when asked about possible employment in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. “Of course it hurts to see your club like this.”

“Who knows, who knows. I haven't spoken to anyone yet,” the former international is clear. “Of course I can help Ajax. I am certainly an Ajax man.” Khalid Boulahrouz wonders why Kluivert has not yet been contacted.

“That's a good question, I ask myself that too,” he responds. Ruud Gullit knows another name of a possible suitable candidate. “It's the same as Clarence Seedorf.”

“He applied for a job, wrote a letter and received no answer. Nothing at all. Which I find annoying… When they (Kluivert and Seedorf, ed.) come abroad, doors open for them wherever they go. But in the Netherlands…”

Presenter Wytse van der Goot then asks Kluivert whether he 'lacks recognition in the Netherlands'. “I don't miss anything at all,” responds the ex-player of Ajax and FC Barcelona, among others. “I'm not looking for recognition either. I know what I've done and I'm happy and proud of that.”

“I don't expect anything from anyone. But it would be nice. So that's my position,” said Kluivert, who sees himself as a trainer rather than a technical director. “I think I am suitable for Ajax. I think that on a personal level I can convey my experiences well to the players.”
