In Turkey, they don't seem to fear the upcoming meeting with the Dutch team in the quarter finals of the European Championship. Several media outlets write with complete confidence in the Turkish team and seem completely unaware of the developments in the Dutch camp.

The Turks qualified for the quarter finals of the European Championship on Tuesday evening, just like the Netherlands. The team defeated Austria, led by Ralf Rangnick, thanks to two goals by Merih Demiral and will face the Netherlands next Saturday in Berlin.

The euphoria is very big after the victory over Austria. The Turkish media does not seem to be aware of the situation in the Dutch camp. “While captain Virgil van Dijk and Matthijs de Ligt stand out in defense, Frenkie de Jong is now expected to take responsibility in midfield,” writes Hurriyet.

These words are remarkable, since De Jong is not in the EC selection due to an injury. Matthijs de Ligt has not played a single minute at the EC. Stefan de Vrij is Van Dijk's regular partner in the centre of the Dutch defence.

Hurriyet is then wrong again when the full selection of Oranje is mentioned. In that selection, the injured Teun Koopmeiners is also mentioned, while Ian Maatsen and Joshua Zirkzee, who were both added to the selection later, are not included.

Milliyet has complete confidence in the Turkish team and comes with a striking message for the Netherlands. “You have taken our famous tulips and soon we will send you back to the Netherlands. The final is approaching and these young Turks reach the European sky”, it sounds.

Turkey will have to do without Orkun Kökçü and Ismail Yüksek in Berlin on Saturday. Both players are suspended for the match against the Netherlands. Demiral may also miss the quarter-finals. UEFA is currently investigating the defender's cheering gesture, which is highly controversial and refers to a far-right Turkish party.
