On Sunday, a few hours before the announcement of the pre-selection of the Dutch national team, Noa Lang made his thirteenth goal of the season for Club Brugge. Partly thanks to a goal from the attacker, Zulte Waregem was defeated 3-0. Coach Philippe Clement’s team has been hit by a corona wave in recent weeks, eliminating it in consecutive Thursdays in both the Europa League and the Croky Cup. There is still no problem in the competition: ten victories in a row.

Clement changed his starting team in two positions compared to the cup match against Standard Liège (1-0 loss). Long took the place of the suspended Ignace Van der Brempt, while Eduard Sobol was preferred over Federico Ricca. Tahith Chong and Ruud Vormer appeared at the start signal, while Stefano Denswil sat on the bench. Bas Dost is still missing due to an injury to the hamstrings.

Zulte suffered two loss of possession in the first half with fatal consequences. After 21 minutes it was hit: after Damien Marcq lost the ball, goalkeeper Louis Bostyn had a good save on a shot from Chong, but the rebound was a prey for Youssouph Badji. Ten minutes later, a striking moment occurred when the goal scorer was replaced by Daniel Pérez to his own disbelief, without injury.

Club Brugge doubled the advantageous margin a few minutes later. Sobol ran away after Daniel Opare lost the ball and made his first goal of the season face to face with Bostyn: 2-0. In the second half it was one-way traffic towards Bostyn’s goal, although Chong and Lang were not in focus. After more than an hour of play, a Dutch-made goal followed. Chong served the detached Lang at the far post and the ex-Ajax player did not fail: 3-0.

A few minutes later, Vormer thought he would take the 4-0, but the VAR rejected the goal due to Perez’s minimal offside. Chong was replaced by Daniel Okereke after 67 minutes and Lang was relieved by Nabil Dirar in the 78th minute. Club Brugge, which has fifteen points more and two matches less than number two Royal Antwerp FC, will play again on Friday evening: then the game against Charleroi is on the program.
