Club Brugge joined the last four in the Croky Cup on Thursday evening. Philippe Clement’s team had few problems in the quarterfinals with OH Leuven, the number thirteen in the Belgian league. Noa Lang had a share in Club’s victory by simply tapping in the 3-1. In stoppage time Hans Vanaken put the 4-1 final score on the scoreboard. Earlier in the evening, Anderlecht also reached the semi-finals of the cup by beating KV Kortrijk (3-0) by a big win.

At Club Brugge, Ruud Vormer started in midfield, while Lang formed a couple with Charles de Ketelaere in the front. That meant that Bas Dost had to do it again with a very short substitute. Club escaped from a deficit in the opening phase, when Simon Mignolet made a save from the breakthrough Thibault Vlietinck. The devil was in the tail end of the first half, in which the home team managed to strike twice.

Clinton Mata managed to get the ball in front of the goal in the 41st minute after a good action, after which De Ketelaere put his head against the ball: 1-0. In stoppage time, a corner kick by Vormer was left in the Leuven penalty area for a long time, so that Eder Balanta could eventually shoot in: 2-0. The visitors brought the tension back fifteen minutes after the break via Xavier Mercier, who scored from seventeen meters: 2-1.

That score didn’t last long, as three minutes later Lang made it 3-1. The attacker was able to easily tap the ball in, after his colleague De Ketelaere stole the ball in the defense from Cenk Özkacar. Vanaken took care of the final chord by aiming a free kick into the corner: 4-1.
