Club Brugge lost 4-1 to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening, but Noa Lang played an excellent game, according to Ronald de Boer. The attacker was involved in several threatening moments from the visitors and provided the assist for Club’s only goal. “I have to say: I really enjoyed Noa Lang”, responds De Boer after the game in the studio of Ziggo Sports.

“He really played a great game,” concludes the analyst. “He let his feet speak again. He gave the assist, but that was not the only thing. He was involved in a lot of creativity.” Especially in the second half, when Club came out of its shell, Lang was a scourge for the Paris defence. “He was often the informant and the initiator. He is a very young boy, but he also stands head and shoulders above the rest in this match. His passes were often exactly tailored. He can take a vicious shot in one go. He keeps the peace, can accelerate for a while.”

De Boer also points out for a moment in minute 72, with a 3-1 deficit. Lang sprinted back to his own penalty area to put Achraf Hakimi off the ball after a deep pass from Lionel Messi. “You can also think: you are 3-1 behind, so I stay in the front so that I am free when we win the ball. Nothing could be further from the truth,” said De Boer, who hopes Lang has the ability to go to the top of the world. “Well, he has the weapons. When you see his ball control, he scores goals, gives assists. So potentially there is a very good footballer in this, but this is just the beginning.”

De Boer guards against too high expectations. After all, Lang is only 22 years old. “We have also seen a lot of guys who also showed this, and then eventually it stops. I hope not with him. He does have it,” notes the analyst. “Then it comes down to mentality and a bit of luck that you don’t get injuries. There is a very good football player in this, who can provide beautiful things for the Dutch national team.”
