The new stadium of Feyenoord seems to have come a step closer. The Rotterdam club will announce on Wednesday that it has approved the Business Case of Feyenoord City. In the ‘New Stadium Investment Memorandum’ published this Wednesday, it emerges that Feyenoord will advance 7.5 million euros in the first season (2025/26) in the new home port. In addition, the new Kuip will receive 25.4 million euros in its debut year.

This is sufficient reason for the Business Case to issue an agreement, Feyenoord emphasizes in Wednesday’s press release. “With the Feyenoord agreement, an important step has been taken towards the actual realization of the new stadium, which forms an important part of the total area development Feyenoord City. Work will continue in the coming months with confidence to also be able to turn the two remaining lights to green” , as can be read on the Feyenoord website.

Feyenoord still has to get the last fifteen percent of the financing of the new stadium, while approval must also be given for the construction costs. The expectation in South Rotterdam is that all financial matters will be completed by the end of 2021, so that the construction of the new accommodation can start in 2022. Three years later, in 2025, the opening of the new Kuip should follow. Commercial director Jos van Dijk explains in a video interview why the transition to a new stadium has become necessary for Feyenoord.

“Feyenoord has to grow,” said the director of the Rotterdam service. “Feyenoord is currently getting about 17.5 million euros from the exploitation of the parts that also go to the new stadium. We are also going to get a similar amount from the new stadium. But there is also a way upwards, which goes to the 25 million. ” The costs of the construction of the new Feyenoord stadium will be estimated at approximately 440 million euros. In a few years’ time, the new Kuip will have room for 63,000 visitors.
