Paris Saint-Germain made a true football celebration of its last game of the season on Saturday. Kylian Mbappé announced the big news about his contract extension prior to the game with FC Metz by appearing on the center spot with a shirt with ‘2025’ on it. In the match, the French superstar then topped it off in the best possible way: with a hat-trick. The national champion also said goodbye to Ángel Di María, who burst into tears after making the 5-0 – also the final score. Just like goalkeeper Keylor Navas, Di María was thanked by the Parisian public for services rendered with a change of audience. Opponent FC Metz dropped to nineteenth place due to the defeat and was immediately relegated.

After a difficult start, PSG got going with the help of Mbappé. The superstar topped off his contract extension with goals in minutes 25 and 28. Mbappe took advantage of his impressive acceleration, was stabbed by Di Maria and Messi respectively, and finished it once through: 2-0. Three minutes later, Messi also released Di María in the penalty area. The ball ended up at Neymar via a sliding by a Metz defender, who put the 3-0 halftime score on the scoreboard with a handy marker.

Mbappé showed himself razor sharp shortly after the break, surprised Kiki Kouyaté with his speed and intercepted the ball sixteen meters from the goal. It was a breeze for Mbappe to pass goalkeeper Marc-Aurele Caillard and complete his hat-trick: 4-0. With 28 goals (and no less than 17 assists), Mbappé thus becomes the top scorer in Ligue 1. Neymar was then kicked down by Boubacar Traoré, who was shown red and Metz in number. Mbappe and Messi then fired one after the other at the post. Fortunately, the ball landed at the feet of Di María in that last attempt, who was able to score his dream farewell goal for PSG: 5-0.

While Di María’s tears were flowing, the match went on and Neymar was unnecessarily involved in a nasty scuffle. The star footballer received a yellow card for his somewhat aggressive reaction to Adama Mbengue and got away well when he also stood on the feet of the left back of Metz. Pochettino then decided to make a public change for Di María and a few minutes later also took Neymar and Keylor Navas to the side. The goalkeeper also says goodbye in Paris and was replaced by 31-year-old Alexandre Letellier, who made his debut for PSG. Georginio Wijnaldum came in briefly.
