NEC booked its fourth consecutive victory in the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday evening. The number six in the ranking was also too strong for Young PSV in-house. FC Volendam recovered from last week’s 3-4 home defeat against Roda JC Kerkrade by beating FC Den Bosch at the bottom: 1-5. TOP Oss finally put an end to a series of defeats, 1-3 at the expense of low flyer FC Dordrecht, while Excelsior simultaneously won against Jong FC Utrecht (2-0) and does not give up participation in the play-offs.

NEC – Young PSV 2-0
The first half in De Goffert, with Fred Rutten and technical director Ted van Leeuwen in the stands was downright boring. NEC had the ball without causing any danger, while Jong mainly stopped PSV. The team of trainer Rogier Meijer came out of the dressing room better and struck after a good first fifteen minutes in the second half. Javier Vet shot the ball from a rebound, after a shot by Jordy Bruijn, past goalkeeper Vincent Müller: 1-0. A few minutes after a good chance for Fredrik Oppergard on the equalizing goal, NEC doubled the lead. After a corner from Bruijn, Müller came out too late and Rangelo Janga hit the first post: 2-0. It was already the fourth victory in a row for NEC.

FC Den Bosch – FC Volendam 1-5
The team of trainer Wim Jonk shot off the starting blocks, although it took, partly due to a lack of fortune and sharpness at Zakaria El Azzouzi and Samuele Mulattieri, among others, until the 27th minute before the opening goal was found. It was Francesco Antonucci who gave the leather to Ibrahim El Kadiri, who moved in and successfully scored: 0-1. When Dwayne Green was sent off with a red card on the stroke of half time for kicking on El Azzouzi, Volendam was given a free track. The 0-2 was found after an hour of play by Mulattieri, who outwitted goalkeeper Wouter van der Steen after a splitting through ball from Alex Plat.

Halfway through the second half, El Azzouzi also put his name on the scoreboard, when he tipped in behind the standing leg past an El Kadiri cross: 0-3. That meant that the poison cup was not empty for Den Bosch, because Micky van de Ven tapped in the 0-4 at the far post fifteen minutes before time. Although Roy Kuijpers made an honorary goal on behalf of the home team, it was Volendam that played the final chord. A cross from the right was extended with the head by Jim Beers, after which Derry John Murkin could easily finish with the second ball: 1-5. That it was an excellent match for the visitors was shown by the precision in the passing: 92.5 percent of the passes arrived. That is the highest passing accuracy of a team from the Kitchen Champion Division since the start of the 2018/19 season.

FC Dordrecht – TOP OSS 1-3
The first serious chance for the visitors, after about nineteen minutes, flew right away. Mart Remans gave the ball the last push from a corner: 0-1. Two minutes later, the goal scorer aimed the ball on the crossbar. The 0-1 was also the deserved halftime score. Six minutes after the break, the 0-2 appeared on the scoreboard: Livio Milts led from the left, after which Remans aimed the ball hard in the corner. Ten minutes later Kevin Jansen narrowed the disadvantageous margin for FC Dordrecht, but that was it. Cas Peters aimed the ball on the crossbar and the home team’s search for an equalizer was not rewarded. In the extra time, Dennis van der Heijden shot the ball wonderfully and from a great distance into the goal: 1-3. It was TOP’s first win after four consecutive defeats.

Excelsior – Jong FC Utrecht 2-0
It promised to be an easy evening for the team of trainer Marinus Dijkhuizen, who already took the lead before the end of the eleventh minute. After excellent preparatory work by Reuven Niemeijer, Ahmad Mendes Moreira delivered the ball to Joël Zwarts, who had his sights on and put the 1-0 on the scoreboard. Young Utrecht had to watch how Excelsior created even more good opportunities in the remainder, although the U21 team managed to keep the tension in the game until eight minutes after the break. After a shot by Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, the ball ended up at the feet of Niemeijer, who remained cool and doubled the margin: 2-0. The Rotterdammers had, among other things, through Zwarts, who was inaccurate in the completion, even further, but the score did not change anymore.
