Napoli has won the last test before the Champions League match at Ajax on Tuesday. The team of Luciano Spalletti was too strong for Torino at home on Saturday afternoon: 3-1. Napoli therefore remains the leader in Serie A, although number two Atalanta can equalize against Fiorentina on Sunday evening. André Zambo Anguissa scored twice for the home side, doubling his career tally when it comes to league goals.

Spalletti started Saturday afternoon with summer addition Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the base. The Georgian has been important to Napoli several times with four goals and two assists in the first seven league games. Ex-PSV player Hirving Lozano sat on the bench. On the side of Torino, former Ajax player Perr Schuurs also had to settle for a role as a substitute. The central defender came over from the team from Amsterdam this summer for nine million euros and was in the starting lineup in three competition games for the time being.

The home side only needed six minutes to open the scoring. Mário Rui found the combination with Kvaratskhelia, who played the Portuguese on the wing. Rui then served André Zambo Anguissa with a fine cross, who headed in: 1-0. Just six minutes later, the midfielder scored again. Anguissa was sent off from his own half by Matteo Politano, then bridged more than forty meters with the ball at his foot and shot hard and low past Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. The 42-time Cameroon international only scored two league goals in his entire career before Saturday. That number was doubled against Torino.

Ten minutes before half time, Kvaratskhelia also appeared on the scoreboard. The Georgian, just like Anguissa, bridged tens of meters with the ball at his foot before he shot the ball low into the corner with the left: 3-0. Torino did something back shortly afterwards via Antonio Sanabria. The ball ended up at the Paraguayan after a failed volley by Stephane Singo, who then shot hard past Alex Meret: 3-1 at halftime. In the second act, Napoli thought they were entitled to a penalty after a foul on Giacomo Raspadori. However, referee Luca Massimi didn’t like it and the VAR agreed. Torino dominated in possession, but they couldn’t come up with really big chances. The biggest opportunity was for Nemanja Radonjic, who saw Meret save after his hard effort.
