Napoli is considering working on the arrival of Noussair Mazraoui during the winter transfer window, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian club is looking for a new right back and sees the Ajax defender, who has an expiring contract, as a suitable option. Mazraoui showed Tuesday during the program With Andy in the car know that he is still “in full talks” with his club, but that reaching an agreement on an extension “will become more difficult” as time goes on.

The Italian sports newspaper also claims that a contract extension of Mazraoui at Ajax is ‘complicated’. As a result, Mazraoui is open to an opportunity to move abroad and a move to Italy would be most appealing to the Morocco international at the moment. Last summer, his transfer value was estimated at EUR 15 million and his contractual situation will further reduce his value. If Napoli cannot sign Mazraoui in January, the club will try to take him over from Ajax on a free transfer in the summer. Reinildo Mandava of Lille OSC remains a target for the left-back role.

Noussair Mazraoui: ‘When am I going to sign up? Andy, I’m telling you honestly…’

Towards Andy van der Meijde, the right back was candid about his contractual situation at Ajax. “We are still in the process of talking and negotiating. That’s really going on right now. We have to see what comes out. You’re not stupid either. The longer it takes, the harder it gets,” said Mazraoui, who made no secret of his desire to make another transfer. “I am open to it. I also said that to Marc (Overmars, ed.). I am very honest about that.”

“I’ve been with Ajax for seventeen years now,” continued Mazroui. “I’m 23 now and I’m turning 24, so at some point you’re going to go a little bit… You know… Then you kind of get the feeling that you’re ready for the next step. It’s not that I’m saying: it should be this season, but it shouldn’t take longer than two years,” concluded the right back. Mazraoui is the undisputed base player at Ajax this season. In sixteen games, he was good for four goals and three assists.
