Zian Flemming has put himself in the spotlight at Napoli due to his good performance, reports Sky Italy. The attacking midfielder of Fortuna Sittard has had a strong season and was one of the great stars of the team from Limburg. The name of Flemming is mentioned by the Italian medium in the same breath with Moussa Sissoko of Tottenham Hotspur, who would also be in the spotlight.

The 22-year-old Flemming was trained by Ajax, where he played in the youth academy for ten years. He made his professional football debut with Jong Ajax and was part of the selection that became champion of the Kitchen Champion Division in the 2017/18 season. After a successful year in the Kitchen Champion Division, in which he was good for 25 games and 6 goals, he made the switch to PEC Zwolle. After a rental period at NEC, he played for Fortuna last season, where he was one of the most important Eredivisie players of the past year with twelve goals and seven assists.

Sky Italy reports that Flemming’s moves are being monitored by Napoli club management and describes the player as ‘a midfielder with strong attacking skills’. Fortuna will want to see money if there is serious interest, as Flemming is still under contract until mid-2024. It is remarkable that Sissoko is also on the same list. The Tottenham midfielder is currently part of France’s European Championship selection, but was not considered a permanent fixture at the North London club last season. Sissoko made 25 Premier League matches in the past football season, 15 of which as a starting player.

Flemming already slowly dared to look ahead in May. “If you plan it out in advance, you would now rather want to go to the top or sub-top of the Eredivisie,” said the midfielder. “But they want a lot of money or that I stay, and given corona there is not much money in the Netherlands. It depends on what comes in the end. If something really beautiful comes where I want to go and they won’t let me go, then I wouldn’t be happy. I don’t have to leave at all costs. It’s just good here and the club has a plan to grow.”
