Guus Til’s name ‘sings around’ at Feyenoord as reinforcement for next season, it reports Algemeen Dagblad Wednesday evening. The midfielder of Spartak Moscow is described by the newspaper as ‘the ideal player for the position behind the deep striker’ in the intended playing style of the new trainer Arne Slot. However, the question is whether Til is feasible for Feyenoord.

The former captain of AZ made the switch from Alkmaar to Moscow in the summer of 2019. It cost sixteen million euros, making it the most expensive club purchase of all time. However, he could not live up to the high expectations. Til joined Spartak in 24 league games, scoring 2 times and providing 3 assists. Prior to the current season, he was rented out to SC Freiburg for two years.

In principle, his lease will continue for more than a year, but Til doesn’t get much work in the Bundesliga either. He only played five league games for Freiburg; before the international break he had a starting place in the home game against FC Augsburg (2-0), but then he remained on the bench for ninety minutes in the lost away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Due to his limited playing time, there seems to be ‘an opening’ for Feyenoord.

Slot worked together with Til as an assistant trainer at AZ between 2017 and 2019. The midfielder left when the trainer stood on his own two feet. Til, single international of the Dutch, has a contract in Moscow until mid-2023. On behalf of AZ he came to 96 league games in which he was good for 28 hits and 12 assists. Presumably Feyenoord is thinking of a lease, but there it does Algemeen Dagblad no statements about it.
