RB Leipzig trainer Julian Nagelsmann has spoken to Angeliño about his behavior on social media. The Spanish left back is recovering from an injury and indicated on Instagram that he is fit again, while the medical staff has a different opinion. It is not the first time that the former defender of NAC Breda and PSV, among others, declares himself unjustly fit on social media.

Nagelsmann spoke about Angeliño’s behavior on social media during a press conference in the run-up to next Saturday’s match against Werder Bremen. In a recent Instagram post, Angeliño indicated that he is fit for the game in Bremen after being injured in the last five league games. Nagelsmann steps on the brake and indicates that the left back is not there yet. “He hasn’t even fully trained yet, only small parts,” said Nagelsmann.

The trainer does include Angeliño in his match selection for Saturday’s game, although he thinks it is still too early for a starting place. Moreover, according to his trainer, Angeliño is lucky to be allowed to go to Bremen. “He comes with us because there is a place available in the selection. If everyone had been fit, he wouldn’t come. ” At the end of February, RB Leipzig announced on Twitter that Angeliño was sidelined with a muscle injury. The Spaniard responded in the negative: “I have no injury, I am fit,” he wrote on February 27, only to delete his tweet not much later. Nagelsmann already indicated that it was ‘not very intelligent’ what Angeliño did and repeated that message on Thursday.

“We are all happy that he is back,” said Nagelsmann. “But there are things in life he still has to learn. For example, he must deal with injuries and the emotions that come with it in a good way. He has done many good things while playing football, but if we look at his recovery there is still room for improvement. Let’s hope he doesn’t end up in such a situation again. I’ve said a few things about his posts before. ” The trainer believes that Angeliño should pay more attention to what he posts on social media. “You do not post information on social media where you leave room for interpretation. He still has to learn that. ”

Nagelsmann will leave it this time with a warning. “There are certain trainers who don’t take things like this as lightly as I do. I am a somewhat calmer trainer and I am not one to penalize this. But he has to learn from this for the future, if he ever has another trainer in front of him. ” The match between Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig starts on Saturday at 3.30 p.m.
