Memphis Depay has made himself heard as a rapper again. The striker of Barcelona and the Dutch national team raps in a studio session of almost eight minutes at 101Barz about his life and career as a footballer. Normally the lyrics of Depay, who has been active as a rapper for about ten years, are a mix of Dutch and English, but in this session he chooses to mainly rap in Dutch.

Let me tell you guys, young kings and young queens. Never stop dreaming. I’m just a normal boy from the bottom too. I know what it’s like to get hit with the whip, but I’ve come a long way. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do. Visca Barça, Visca Catalunya,” Depay said after his rap, which has been viewed more than 110,000 times at the time of writing.

Depay raps about his half-brother Jeffrey, who ended up in a detention center after he was arrested after an armed robbery. In the documentary ‘With both legs’, which was shown in June, the 27-year-old attacker also visits his brother in Groningen.

“My brother doesn’t even know what’s outside anymore,” the the Dutch international now says. Eleven songs with video clips can be viewed and listened to on Depay’s YouTube channel. The last song he released was in November last year and had 1.1 million views.
