José Mourinho has sent a special message to Aleksander Ceferin in the run-up to the Conference League final against Feyenoord next Wednesday. The Portuguese AS Roma trainer is happy with the introduction of the third European club tournament, according to the message he sent to the president of UEFA. “I have never received so many hearts, not even from women,” Ceferin says in conversation with 24ur.com at.

Feyenoord and AS Roma will meet on May 25 in the final of the Conference League, which will be played in Tirana. The winner of the final battle can call himself the first Conference League winner ever. There was a lot of skepticism about the newly established tournament in advance, but Mourinho is wildly enthusiastic, according to the UEFA president. “The introduction of the Conference League was looked at with a lot of skepticism, but I got a message from Jose Mourinho and he was very happy.” The message was sent to Ceferin after reaching the final. AS Roma was too strong for Leicester City in the semi-finals over two matches (1-1 and 1-0). The former coach of Chelsea, among others, was overcome with emotions after the final whistle.

“Jose Mourinho is someone who lives for football and who can be emotionally touched by football. He doesn’t care if he wins or loses. He has won everything and now has the chance to become the first coach in history to win the Conference League.” That Mourinho is happy with Ceferin’s decision to set up a third European club tournament is clear from the text message he sent to Ceferin. “I have never received so many hearts, not even from women.”

Mourinho stated just under two weeks ago in front of the camera of BT Sport why he got so emotional after reaching the final with AS Roma. “I felt from day one how big this is. The history does not match the social strength of this club.” AS Roma is in a European final for the first time since 1991. “That’s why I’m very emotional. Of course I’ve had bigger moments than this. But I don’t feel for myself, I feel for the people and my players. It’s great for us to reach a European final. For us this is the Champions League.” Mourinho previously won the Champions League with both FC Porto and Internazionale. In the 2016/17 season he conquered the Europa League by dealing with Ajax (0-2) with Manchester United in the final.
