José Mourinho immediately set a record in his first league match as coach of AS Roma. The Portuguese coach is the fastest coach ever with 50 Serie A victories since the introduction of the three-point system in 1994. For this, the former Inter Milan coach needed 77 games. Mourinho reacts via Instagram with a nod to the milestone achieved thanks to Roma’s 3-1 victory over Fiorentina at home.

“Please don’t show my negative records, only the positive records,” Mourinho told stats collector Opta in a light-hearted manner. Incidentally, it is the third time that the Roma trainer has been given such a record. In the Premier League, where he worked for Chelsea and Manchester United, Mourinho needed just 63 games to reach the tally of 50 wins. As Real Madrid coach, 50 wins were recorded in 62 appearances in La Liga.

Mourinho is critical of his team, despite Sunday evening’s victory over Fiorentina. “It was an entertaining game, although we didn’t play very well,” he says in a response to DAZN. “We played well with 11 against 11 and 10 against 10, but certainly not with 11 against ten. Then, strangely enough, we had more trouble putting pressure on. It was only when we lost Nicolò Zaniolo that we came back into the game, made We scored the second and the third goal and got control back.”

Tammy Abraham, good for two assists against Fiorentina, is in good shape at Mourinho for the time being. “He is more of a point of reference,” the winning coach describes the role of the attacker who came over from Chelsea. “So even if he hadn’t been tired, I would have made the substitution. We have a lot of options at the moment, but I like the team spirit the most at the moment,” said Mourinho.
