Top players, but also clubs from home and abroad, provide an insight into the ins and outs of the football world (almost) every day via Instagram, X or other internet channels. In this edition of VZ Social, attention is paid to Milan van Ewijk, who caused a stir in England with a remarkable goal celebration.

Coventry City won 2-1 against Millwall thanks to two goals from striker Haji Wright. Van Ewijk played as a right wing-back for ninety minutes The Sky Blues.

Afterwards, Coventry's social media team posted photos from during and after the match. One of those images shows Van Ewijk, who probably celebrated a goal or thanked the fans afterwards.

His way of cheering was reminiscent of the characteristic Nazi salute from during and before the Second World War. Coventry quickly removed the image from its channels, but observant fans quickly managed to grab a screenshot.

It showed how Van Ewijk quickly apologized. “I accidentally mixed two celebrations through eachother. Please don't take this as an insult!”

When Coventry posts another, decent photo of Van Ewijk a little later, he makes fun of himself and the media team. “Yes, that's a better photo,” he responds, laughing, underneath the photo.
