AC Milan recovered from Sunday’s defeat to Sassuolo on Wednesday evening. After the 1-3 loss in San Siro names i Rossoneric during a visit to Genoa without any problems, take home the three points: 0-3. Leader Napoli bit down on Sassuolo and drew 2-2, but for the time being remains the leader of the Serie A with 36 points. AC Milan is two points in with the victory and comes to 35 points.

Genoa – AC Milan 0-3
Went on the attack with Zlatan Ibrahimovic i Rossoneric again on the hunt for the top position in Serie A. It was also the Swede who broke the spell: after ten minutes of play, he shot a nice free kick behind a hopeless Salvatore Sirigu. The forty-year-old striker already signed for his sixth league goal of this season. Barely two minutes later, Ibrahimovic was able to double the margin, but he failed to complete a good cross from the left. Relatively little happened in the Stadio Luigi Ferraris after that for half an hour, until Junior Messias decided to assert himself. The Brazilian got the ball on the head via a Genoa defender and headed past Sirigu.

If there was any hope left for the hosts, it was now crushed. Milan had little to fear and made the third after an hour of play. Stefano Pioli’s team combined to their heart’s content around the hostile sixteen and again Junior Messias was the final station. In the remainder of the game, the victory was no longer in danger; the Milanese are two points closer to the lead.

Sassuolo – Napoli 2-2
A draw would keep the Neapolitans in the lead, but that would not have been the order of trainer Luciano Spalletti. Still, the hosts had the better of the game in the first half. The further the match progressed, the more often Sassuolo appeared in front of David Ospina’s goal. Napoli, on the other hand, got no further than a number of blocked shots from Fabián Ruiz and Lorenzo Insigne. Perhaps the team needed a break, there gli Azzurri took the lead soon after the break. Ruiz received the ball from Piotr Zielinski on the edge of the box and shot hard and low past Andrea Consigli.

Not much later it was Dries Mertens’ turn. Once again Zielinski passed the ball excellently to the Belgian, who widened the margin. There seemed to be no problem for Napoli, when Gianluca Scamacca made the connection goal from scratch. The Sassuolo striker received a good cross from former Spartan Abdou Harroui and shot behind the hopeless Ospina. Despite the goal, Napoli still seemed to take the win; Gian Marco Ferrari decided otherwise. With one minute of official playing time left, the defender headed a free kick by Domenico Berardi against the ropes: 2-2. The final phase was crazy. Spalletti was shown another red card for protesting and the 3-2 for Sassuolo was disallowed for a foul.
