Christian Eriksen does not stand for a return to Ajax, Mike Verweij emphasizes on Monday evening. The Ajax-watcher of The Telegraph assures that ‘according to reliable sources there is no question of a transfer to Ajax’. A journalist from Denmark, Omar Hawwash, reported on Twitter that the Danish international was on his way to Amsterdam, but that is not based on truth.

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest on June 12 during the Denmark-Finland European Championship match in Copenhagen. He was resuscitated on the field and then taken to hospital. A few days later, the Internazionale midfielder announced that he was doing well and that he had received an internal defibrillator.

Francesco Braconaro, a doctor for the Italian Football Association, said last month that according to the rules, players are not allowed to play with an internal defibrillator in Serie A. But no official statement regarding Eriksen has been released so far. According to Inter, Eriksen is in excellent physical and mental condition, although it is not clear when he will be able to play football again.

Hawwash reported Monday evening that Ajax’s medical staff had given the green light for his possible arrival after studying Eriksen’s medical file. The journalist would have heard that from ‘sources around Eriksen’. The tweet received more than three thousand likes and was eagerly picked up in Italy. Verweij assures, however, that the return of the Dane in Ajax’s uniform is not an issue for now.

Eriksen, 29, has been playing for Internazionale since January last year, which took him over from Tottenham Hotspur for 27 million euros. After a rough start, the playmaker had an important share in the first league title since 2010 for the club from Milan last season.
