Mike van Duinen continues his career at OFI Crete, reports Football International Thursday night. The striker is being recruited on a free transfer and signs a multi-year contract with the number twelve of last season in Greece. Van Duinen played the past three seasons at PEC Zwolle, which did not extend his expiring contract.

OFI Crete was promoted to the Greek Super League in 2018 and is led by chairman Nikos Machlas, former star and top scorer of Vitesse. In addition, Georgios Samaras, former attacker of sc Heerenveen, among others, works as vice-chairman. Van Duinen will play in Greece with compatriots Luc Castaignos, Jonathan de Guzman and Boy Waterman.

The ties between OFI Crete and the Netherlands are also underlined by the fact that the club is at a training camp in the Netherlands this month. OFI Crete practices against Vitesse (July 13), Fortuna Sittard (July 21), AZ (July 28) and NEC (July 30). Van Duinen had a difficult year at PEC last season, partly due to injuries, and scored 3 goals in 23 league matches. In his career he already played for ADO Den Haag, Fortuna Düsseldorf, Excelsior and PEC Zwolle.
