Georges Mikautadze was of great value to FC Metz on Sunday afternoon. The Georgian striker scored the winning goal in the league match with Le Havre: 0-1. As a result, Metz climbs to fifteenth place in Ligue 1, one point more than number sixteen Le Havre.

Just after halftime, Mikautadze made it 0-1 by picking up the ball after a rebound, rounding the keeper and shooting the ball hard and high into the goal. That also turned out to be the winning goal.

This means that Metz can still seriously hope for promotion. It is now fifteenth, while number sixteen ultimately plays play-offs for promotion/relegation. Numbers seventeen and eighteen are relegated directly.

It was Mikautadze's tenth goal of the season for Metz, after sixteen appearances. He also provided three assists. In the first half of the season at Ajax, he did not record a single goal or assist in the nine matches he played.

Interview

Mikautadze was in the news earlier this weekend because of an interview opposite L'Équipein which the Georgian looked back on his time at Ajax.

“I spent more than two months in a hotel. I was alone in that room, I went crazy,” said Mikautadze. “But the club didn't help me much with looking for an apartment either. I rented an Airbnb on my own, where my family lived with me for over a month.”

Mikautadze was also not happy with the current situation with Ajax, who seems to definitively rule out a return. “Now I'm rented out, but they don't say anything. They have forgotten me at Ajax,” said the attacker.
