That means that both teams are on eleven points after five matchdays. That is four fewer than list leader Benfica, which won 0-5 against Santa Clara on Saturday.
After just over fifteen minutes of play, Sporting took the lead. Pedro Porro went deep on the right and passed the ball low in front of the penalty area, where Nuno Santos hit the ball just enough to work it into the left corner behind goalkeeper Diogo Costa: 1-0. The joy in the Estádio José Alvalade was great. A supporter in all his euphoria even fell down a stand. After allegedly falling from seven to eight meters, he was taken to a hospital on a stretcher, to the applause of supporters.

FC Porto nicely scored 1-1 twenty minutes before the end. After a long pass by Jesús Corona from the right, Luis Diaz put in a nice play on the left side of the box and worked the ball into the right corner behind goalkeeper Antonio Adán with effect: 1-1. That was also the final score after even eight minutes of extra time in Lisbon, where substitute Toni Martinez was sent off on behalf of the visitors in the 87th minute after two yellow cards in just two minutes. Referee Nuno Almeida drew a total of thirteen cards, including the red card for the Spaniard.
