Memphis Depay will not play for the Dutch national team during the coming international match period. The KNVB has announced this in a press release. The attacker of Atlético Madrid is still suffering too much from an injury and the games in the Nations League are therefore too early for him.

The Dutch national team will play against Croatia in the semi-finals of the Nations League on Wednesday 14 June. Memphis cannot play that match, and will not experience a possible final in De Kuip on Sunday evening. The attacker of Atlético is currently recovering from an injury, as can be read in the KNVB press release, and is not fit in time. No replacement is being called up, so that the selection of the the Dutch squad for the final tournament now consists of 25 players.

Memphis was injured during the last international period of the the Dutch, when they played against France (4-0 defeat) and Gibraltar (3-0 win) in March. He seemed to have recovered from that when he was able to come on again at Atlético on April 30 and scored against Real Valladolid (5-2 win), but after that Memphis was no longer in the selection of los Rojiblancos. De Moordrechter can now count on the start of the new season. Atlético will start preparing for the new football year from the beginning of July.

The Dutch reached the Final Four of the Nations League by finishing first in a group with Belgium, Poland and Wales. The Netherlands and Croatia will compete against each other in De Kuip on Wednesday 14 June during the first semi-final. The other semi-final between Spain and Italy will take place a day later in the Grolsch Veste. The FC Twente stadium will also be the setting for the consolation final on Sunday 18 June. The final will then be played in De Kuip. The Johan Cruijff ArenA and the Philips Stadium were not available in June due to other events.
