The mayor of Sittard has dismissed PSV’s request to play the away match against Fortuna Sittard later, it knows Eindhovens Dagblad. The people of Eindhoven, who will visit AS Monaco in the Europa League on Thursday, November 4, had submitted the request to play against Fortuna on Sunday evening, November 7 at 8 p.m., but the mayor does not agree and so the game will remain on the table. the original time: 2:30 PM.

PSV will play at Monaco on Thursday 4 November and will face Fortuna Sittard in the Eredivisie three days later. In order to create more peace of mind, PSV put down the wish to start the duel with the Limburgers five and a half hours later. PSV may submit such requests to the KNVB because, like all other European clubs, it deposits money in a so-called solidarity pot from which other Eredivisie clubs communicate. However, the mayor of Sittard, who is responsible for public order and safety, does not agree to the request.

The decision will most likely have been received with chagrin in Eindhoven, as research by the Eindhovens Dagblad it has turned out that Roger Schmidt’s team loses more points in the Eredivisie with less rest. The regional daily concludes that PSV has performed worse than average almost every season after a match in UEFA’s B division in the past ten years. The current number two in the Eredivisie took an average of 1.87 points per competition game after 45 matches in the main tournament of the Europa League, while the average in those seasons was 2.08 points per game.

The decision of the mayor of Sittard will undoubtedly be able to count on more support from PSV supporters, as evening games can still count on little sympathy among supporters. For example, fans of the Eindhoven club protested against the start time of 8 p.m. last Sunday. Against Sparta Rotterdam, the hard core remained silent for the first twenty minutes in protest. Banners were also shown with the text ‘Againts football on Sunday at 20.00’. A number of fans even stayed away out of dissatisfaction with the late start time.
