Erling Braut Haaland may have played his last Champions League match for Borussia Dortmund. On Wednesday evening, the team of trainer Edin Terzic was eliminated by Manchester City in the quarterfinals. Haaland seems to be on the way to a summer transfer, but Dortmund is not convinced of that. Sporting director Michael Zorc left after the 1-2 defeat Sky Deutschland know that Dortmund is counting on Haaland when planning for next season.
Haaland has been associated with a top summer transfer for months. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, among others, have already passed in the corridors. “The fact is: nothing happens without our signature,” Zorc responded Wednesday evening to the rumors surrounding Haaland. “We include him in our planning, whether we qualify for the Champions League or not.” The first four clubs in the Bundesliga qualify for the group stage of the Champions League. Dortmund are six games before the end of the competition fifth, seven points behind number four Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to Zorc, Dortmund recently had a conversation with Haaland and his father, who is guiding him personally. “We have given a clear signal that we are continuing our planning with Haaland. It could be that Mino (Raiola, ed.) Sees it differently. ” Haaland is not only accompanied by his father, but also by Raiola. Twenty-year-old Haaland will be under contract with the German top club until the summer of 2024. Its current market value is through Transfer market estimated at 110 million euros.
Manchester City are the only club against which Haaland did not score this Champions League season. “This player is almost unstoppable,” said City coach Josep Guardiola at the press conference after the victory in Dortmund. “The best way to defend these types of players is to not let them play.” Guardiola said he was impressed by the qualities of the Norwegian international. “He is fast, strong in the air and a killer for the goal. He is a top-class player and will only get stronger in the future. ” Haaland scored ten times this Champions League season.
