Kenneth Perez has doubts about Luuk de Jong’s expiration date. The analyst of ESPN wonders whether the 32-year-old striker is still an added value for PSV. Perez calls De Jong ‘a very valuable player’, but believes that the current captain of PSV adds too little dynamics to the game of the people of Eindhoven.

“I think you should judge a PSV player when things are difficult, when the spaces are small and the opponent is fresh,” says Perez at This was the Weekend. “Then, as a PSV policymaker, you really look at who can help the club become more dynamic next year and help create more opportunities in the small spaces. Nine times out of ten, an opponent plays against PSV very compactly. It has to be more dynamic , because the game was so slow against Excelsior (4-0 win).”

Perez especially has his doubts about De Jong. “I am one of the biggest fans of Luuk de Jong, he is a very valuable player. Only when he is at the point of attack, there is no dynamism. So what does PSV do? Playing the long ball at De Jong. But they should have more players who run wide and deep and make room for others.”

De Jong, who scored the opening goal against Excelsior, dropped out at halftime with minor complaints. Fábio Silva played in the second company as number 9. With the Portuguese in the striker, PSV eventually finished with a comfortable victory. “Whether Fábio Silva is the right striker for PSV? I don’t know, but there was some pace with him,” said Perez, who can imagine that De Jong no longer has to be PSV’s absolute attack leader after all these years. “Maybe they can use him as a stand-in. “
