Latest update:

Maurits Hendriks is leaving Ajax. Mike Verweij reports this the Telegraph Wednesday afternoon. The decision is the result of an emergency meeting between the Chief Sports Officer himself and the Supervisory Board.

Hendriks is held responsible for the administrative and sporting chaos in which Ajax has found itself. It is not yet known whether he keeps the honor to himself or whether he has been fired.

“Supervisory Board chairman Michael van Praag, supervisory directors Leo van Wijk and Danny Blind and Supervisory Board advisor Louis van Gaal are already making a difficult decision for Alex Kroes (soon-to-be general manager, ed.),” Verweij writes.

Hendriks' job was further 'stripped down' after the arrival of Marijn Beuker, the newspaper states. Therefore, there was no longer enough support within the top management of Ajax to continue with the former hockey national coach.

Hendriks was a key figure in the appointment of the now dismissed Sven Mislintat. After Julian Ward was missed, Hendriks convinced Van der Sar to appoint the German, according to Verweij.

More soon.
