Latest update:

With René Hake's imminent departure to Manchester United, Go Ahead Eagles will soon have to look for a new head coach. The team from Deventer has already started that search and the first names are already surfacing.

RTV East writes that Maurice Steijn, Marcel Keizer and Bas Sibum are reviewed. Paul Bosvelt, technical director of Go Ahead, responds to the names to the local broadcaster.

“At first you say: an experienced man, but we also have to see what is available,” the former midfielder explains. “I see those names passing by and they are not mentioned for nothing. They are logical names.”

Bosvelt also immediately crosses out a name. Hake's arrival at Manchester United coincides with Mitchell van der Gaag's departure from Old Trafford, but Erik ten Hag's departing assistant is not an option for Kowetaccording to Bosvelt.

“We hope to present a replacement as soon as possible. It has to be someone who can identify with the current working method, it would be crazy to change everything.”

Seasonal preparation

Go Ahead already practiced against a professional club for the first time this summer on Wednesday. Telstar was defeated 3-0 thanks to goals from Søren Tengstedt, Victor Edvardsen and Finn Stokkers.

The first official match for Go Ahead will be on 25 July, when SK Brann will be the opponent in Deventer in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Conference League. The return match will be played in Norway a week later.
