Matthijs de Ligt is missing from Juventus’ match selection for Sunday evening’s game against AS Roma. The the Dutch international would suffer a hamstring injury, reported The Telegraph. The seriousness of the alleged injury to the centre-back is unknown. It is therefore not clear how long he cannot play for the club from Turin.

The injury is another setback for De Ligt, who has lost his base place in the Dutch national team under national coach Louis van Gaal. After a disappointing European Championship, the the Dutch coach prefers Stefan de Vrij in the heart of the defense next to captain Virgil van Dijk. In the past international period, the 22-year-old defender did not play for a minute; both against Latvia (0-1 win) and against Gibraltar (6-0 win), he sat on the bench for ninety minutes.

Due to his injury, he has to miss the squatter against AS Roma tonight at 8.45 pm. Juventus will return to action next Wednesday. In the Champions League, Zenit Saint Petersburg is then the opponent, after which the Italian top match against Internazionale is scheduled for next Sunday in Milan. It is currently unclear whether De Ligt can play.
