Nick Marsman recently had to spend three days in a hospital. The Inter Miami goalkeeper ended up there after being bitten by a venomous tropical spider at a Florida zoo. The 32-year-old goalie is now doing well and is now back home.

“The downside of living in a tropical climate is if you go to the zoo and get bitten by a poisonous spider,” Marsman’s wife Nathalie den Dekker wrote on Instagram. Den Dekker announced in a subsequent story that her husband had to spend three days in the hospital. She also shared the news that Marsman is now back home. Whether the former goalie of Feyenoord, among others, is fit enough to be part of the selection for Sunday’s game remains to be seen. Inter travels to Pennsylvania for the meeting with the number four of the MLS, Philadelphia Union.

Marsman has been playing for Miami, the club of co-owner David Beckham, since 2021. To date, the Zwolle native has not played in the MLS this season. Drake Callender is preferred by trainer Javier Morales. The club is not doing too well in the Eastern Conference of the MLS for the time being. With fifteen points from seventeen matches, Inter performs downright moderately. To qualify for the play-offs for the championship at the end of the season, the club must finish at least ninth.

The arrival of Lionel Messi may help with that. The Argentine superstar is expected to make his debut for Inter in July. Marsman already commented on the imminent arrival of Messi at an earlier stage. “We walk from the training center to the stadium with no pre-match security,” he told ESPN. “I think Inter Miami is not ready yet.”
