Dusan Tadic will return to Ajax on Tuesday. The Football Association of Serbia has agreed that the attacker will be given time off for Wednesday night’s Nations League game against Turkey. This prevents Tadic from having to be quarantined and missing the game against sc Heerenveen on Sunday afternoon.

Last Thursday, Tadic participated in the European Championship qualifying match against Norway, which was won 1-2 after extra time. Three days later, he was on the field for ninety minutes in the Nations League match against Hungary (0-1 defeat). On Wednesday evening, Serbia will visit Istanbul, but Tadic will return to Amsterdam instead. Marko Pantelic, former Ajax player and now vice president of the Serbian Football Association, is doing his old club a service.

“We think along with Dusan and Ajax”, Pantelic tells The Telegraph. “If Dusan would go to Turkey, he would have to be quarantined for days on his return to Amsterdam due to the Dutch corona regulations, which meant he would miss the game with sc Heerenveen. We are grateful to Dusan for the victory in the European Championship play-off in Norway and need him badly in the decisive game against Scotland next month. We want him to feel comfortable. “

If Tadic were to be missing against Heerenveen, Erik ten Hag would have to puzzle his line-up. The trainer seems to have already found his steady vanguard, because in the first four league matches Antony, Zakaria Labyad and Tadic always played together at the front; the Serb occupies the left wing. After four matches Ajax is in fifth place in the Eredivisie, with a point less than shared leader Heerenveen.
