Mark van Bommel is not unwilling to be employed by FC Utrecht. The clubless trainer gives in conversation with Veronica Inside that he does not feel ‘too big’ for anything, but that he has not yet been called by the Eredivisie club. Van Bommel agrees that he would fit in well with the club from the Dom City, but does not let go of any negotiations.

In Wilfred Genee’s radio program, Van Bommel is asked about a possible employment contract with FC Utrecht, which is looking for a successor to John van den Brom who has left for Racing Genk. “I certainly don’t feel too big for that,” said Van Bommel on the phone. “But they didn’t call.” The former international says that he has not yet seriously considered an employment contract with Utrecht because he has not yet been asked. “Only when you get a question do you start to imagine it: What if they call? What would I do? How does it look? When you get the question, you really start thinking about it. ”

Van Bommel agrees with the statement that he would fit well in Stadium Galgenwaard. “Yes, in terms of work ethic, I also have some people wanting to see in you. That you do everything you can, that also applies to that club. But that does not mean that other clubs will lose weight ”, he says. Van Bommel was mentioned by Willem van Hanegem as an option at Feyenoord when Dick Advocaat leaves after this season. “That’s the same story as what I just said,” says Van Bommel. “When that question comes up, you really start thinking about it. If a dishwasher doesn’t break, you don’t even think about buying a new one. “

The ex-PSV trainer is asked by Genee whether he has been polled in recent weeks. “Yes, several questions have been asked,” said Van Bommel, without disclosing which clubs he was approached by. “It is quite busy in that respect.” He explains what questions he gets: “If something happens to us, at the end of the season or during the season, are you open to it? In principle, I am open to a lot. Whether it is concrete? Well, it just depends on what you want to call it. ” Van Bommel emphasizes that tonight no press release should be expected about an appointment at FC Utrecht. “No, I’ll call you”, he concludes.

FC Utrecht has already announced through technical director Jordy Zuidam that the club management is taking the time to appoint a new trainer. René Hake has been provisionally appointed as an interim trainer. If he performs well, club owner Frans van Seumeren does not rule out his permanent appointment. “He gets the chance until the winter break and if he does well then he will stay after the winter break”, Van Seumeren said earlier.
