Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi and Ajax player Lisandro Martínez are on the front page of Thursday Mundo Deportivo. The newspaper links the two Eredivisie defenders with a transfer to Barcelona. The Catalans are looking for a left central defender and so the two would be in the picture at the club management of Barça. AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli also seems a serious option for Spain’s current number three.

Barcelona’s priority in the coming transfer window is to attract an attacker. In addition, a left-footed center-back is being looked at. Samuel Umtiti, whose contract runs until mid-2023, is allowed to leave the Camp Nou and is looking for a ‘cheap’ alternative. The arrival of a new defender is unrelated to the recruitment of Eric García. The twenty-year-old Spaniard is transfer-free from Manchester City after this season.

Martínez has been associated with Barcelona more often in recent months. The alleged interest in Senesi is new. In the Italian media, he has been regularly associated with a transfer to Napoli. La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier even wrote about a personal agreement between Senesi and the club from Naples. Besides the two defenders from the Eredivisie, Romagnoli would also be in the picture. The 26-year-old captain of AC Milan will be stuck in the San Siro until the summer of 2022 and there is no prospect of a new contract yet.

The Catalan sports newspaper also mentions Real Betis defender Aïssa Mandi as a candidate to strengthen the selection of Ronald Koeman. He is right-footed, but has already proven that he can manage in all positions at the rear. He has an expiring contract in Seville, which makes him a cheap option. Finally, Jorge Cuenca is mentioned as an alternative. The youth international left Barcelona for Villarreal because he was unable to convince Koeman. The Spanish superpower has a buyback option on the 21-year-old man who plays for Almería on a rental basis this season.
