Erik ten Hag says he is not concerned with a switch to Manchester United. The Ajax trainer is invariably mentioned in England in the list of candidates to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but opposite ESPN Ten Hag emphasizes that his focus is on Ajax. He has the ambition to take trophies with the club this season and does not want to be distracted by the stories about the possible interest from Manchester.

“I am working on this team”, Ten Hag underlines after Ajax’s 0-5 victory over RKC Waalwijk. “We have a very nice selection, we want to achieve a lot and I focus on that. That’s where all the concentration is, the rest just distracts. I expect my players to be at Ajax, so I have to set a good example .” According to Ten Hag, there is currently nothing concrete about an appointment at Old Trafford. “I don’t know anything, I haven’t heard anything, so I don’t have to worry about that at all. I only focus on Ajax.” Sunday reported Sky Sports that Ten Hag would indeed be interested in the position.

In ‘s studio ESPN Marciano Vink and Kees Kwakman respond to Ten Hag’s words. The analysts point out that trainers such as Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino are also mentioned as successors to the fired Solskjaer; in the eyes of Vink, Manchester United is in any case not the right club for Ten Hag. “If Marc Overmars would take on the job of technical director, it would be an abc for Ten Hag. But Manchester United is such a difficult club to work.”

“I think Bayern Munich would suit Ten Hag better than a club like Manchester United. Tottenham Hotspur would also be a great club in the lee. If you build something there… At Manchester United, with all the stars there, you are expected to perform immediately “At a club like Bayern there is a little more peace. I think such a club suits Ten Hag better,” says Vink. Kwakman does not expect an abrupt departure from Ten Hag in the coming months. “But after the season: why not? He can bring about something at such a club, something different. The question is whether you get the time. He is a ‘process trainer’, he talks about the process more often, so he takes time.”
