Manchester United have the best papers for signing Julian lvarez, various media report, including Argentina’s TyC Sports. The 21-year-old River Plate attacker was voted South America’s best player this week in the Uruguayan edition of El Pais.

Álvarez has an escape clause in his €20 million contract, a not insurmountable amount for the Manchester superpower. The Argentine striker had his big breakthrough in 2021 at River, which is well on his way to the national championship thanks in part to his 18 goals and 6 assists in 21 matches. This put Álvarez in the spotlight in Europe, because Atlético Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus and Bayern Munich have also been mentioned in the media recently. Before that, the name of Ajax also came up in the rumor circuit.
