Manchester United have reached a personal agreement with Manuel Ugarte, write Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg of Sky SportThe Uruguayan is 'desperate' to move to Old Trafford, but is awaiting negotiations between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, where the Uruguayan is under contract for four more years.

Ugarte is expected to cost around 45 million euros, although a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option could also be a possibility for Manchester United. According to The Guardian the club may have to get rid of a big earner first in order to buy Ugarte. Casemiro and Scott McTominay, like Ugarte defensive midfielder, are according to Fabrizio Romano on the list to leave in order to create space for Ugarte.

PSG, meanwhile, are in no rush to sell Ugarte given his four-year contract at Parc des Princes. The French could opt to reject a loan deal, forcing Man United to sell first before Ugarte can be brought in.

Manchester United are in talks with PSG to find a solution and the player's desire to leave could possibly accelerate the transfer. What could speak in Ugarte's favour is that he has the same agent as Leny Yoro, who was signed earlier in the day: Jorge Mendes.

Ugarte was mostly a regular at PSG last season. Coach Luis Enrique started him in 21 of the 33 Ligue 1 matches he was available for. The 23-year-old right-footer from Montevideo did not score any goals, but he did provide three assists.

Ugarte, a 22-time international, is currently enjoying his holiday after recently participating in the Copa América. Uruguay reached the semi-finals, where Colombia proved to be too strong with a 1-0 win. Ugarte was a starter in all Copa América matches.

Ugarte began his career in his home country at Club Atlético Fénix, before moving to Portuguese side FC Famalicão in January 2021. A season later, Sporting Portugal paid almost 25 million euros for him. At the beginning of last season, he moved to PSG, who paid no less than 60 million euros for him.
