Sevilla is currently the most emphatic in the making for Anthony Martial. The current number two in LaLiga has made a proposal to Manchester United to hire the attacker for the remainder of the season. There is no mention of an option to buy in the proposal. Manchester United have not yet responded, but realize that Martial wants to make a transfer. According to Sky Sports Sevilla is even his ‘preferred destination’, although Newcastle United, Barcelona and Juventus are also said to be interested.

Martial has fallen in the rankings at Manchester United and has only been started twice in the Premier League this season. His contract will run until the summer of 2024 and even includes an option for an extra year, but his agent Philippe Lamboley was in talks with him on December 10. Sky Sports already looking forward to a winter transfer from his client. “Anthony wants to leave the club in January. He just has to play. He doesn’t want to stay with the club in January. I will talk to the club about it soon,” Lamboley made clear in a short response.

The prospects for Martial have diminished in particular with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo. Edinson Cavani is currently injured but was above Martial in the ranking when he was still fit. Thus, after five and a half years, Martial’s employment at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end. The now 26-year-old Frenchman came over from AS Monaco in September 2015 for at least fifty million euros, an amount that increased by ten million euros via a contractual bonus. Martial has played 268 official games since his arrival, scoring 79 times.

On Sunday, Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick agreed that Martial wants to leave. However, he hinted that there was no concrete interest yet. “He told me that he thinks the time has come for a change. I said to him: ‘Listen, as long as there is no club showing an interest in you… And it shouldn’t just be in the interest of the player, it should also serve the club’s interest.’ So far, as far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and as long as there has been, he will stay.” With the proposal from Seville, there is now a concrete offer.
