Manchester City secured group win in Group A in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. Pep Guardiola’s team won 2-1 at home against Paris Saint-Germain. Manchester City v Paris Saint Germain 2-1
Pep Guardiola’s team, where Nathan Ake started on the bench, had a strong opening phase at the Etihad Stadium. A header from Rodri was headed off the goal line by Presnel Kimpembe and then Riyad Mahrez had a great opportunity to give the home side the lead. Achraf Hakimi, however, was in the range of the shot. He also saved PSG from falling behind with a header. After more than half an hour of play, the ball fell at the feet of Ilkay Gündogan, who shot the ball from a promising position onto the post.

In the next attack, City immediately became dangerous again. Gundogan gave in to Mahrez, who tried with a low shot into the long corner. Keylor Navas saved coach Mauricio Pochettino’s team from falling behind with a great save. On the stroke of half-time, Kylian Mbappé had a good opportunity to give the visitors the lead from a counterattack. However, the attacker shot wide. The second half was five minutes away, when PSG took the lead against all odds. After a smooth attack, the ball fell through Kyle Walker at the feet of Mbappé, who scored the opening goal through Ederson’s legs: 0-1.

After more than an hour of play, City’s equalizer was a fact. Rodri sent Walker away with a through ball. The right back gave the lead, after which Raheem Sterling shot in through the inside of the post with the tip of his foot: 1-1. Twenty minutes before the end, Navas was tested again by an attempt by Gabriel Jesus, who tried from a difficult angle. The home team pushed further and took the lead in the 75th minute. Mahrez gave up to Bernardo Silva, who returned to Jesus. The attacker worked from close range: 2-1.

Club Brugge – RB Leipzig 0-5
The home team, with Noa Lang and Bas Dost in the starting line-up and Ruud Vormer on the bench, were behind after fifteen minutes. André Silva took advantage of fumbling in the defense of Club Brugge. The attacker found Simon Mignolet on his way, after which the rebound was for Christopher Nkunku: 0-1. Five minutes later, RB Leipzig doubled the margin when Brian Brobbey was knocked out by Kamal Sowah in the box. Emil Forsberg shot the visitors from eleven meters in Group A past Club Brugge on a mutual result: 0-2.

RB Leipzig was able to further expand the score within half an hour. Angeliño hurled the ball in front of the box and found Silva, who cleverly headed the ball into the long corner: 0-3. On the stroke of half-time, Forsberg made the suffering for the home team even greater. The Swedish attacker outwitted Mignolet from about eighteen meters with a low shot in the short corner: 0-4. No more goals were scored in the second half. Trainer Achim Beierlorzer awarded the eighteen-year-old Dutchman Solomon Bonnah his Champions League debut in the final phase. Deep in injury time, the final chord was for Nkunku, who scored from edge sixteen: 0-5.
