Manchester City will probably strengthen itself in the short term with Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano announced on Thursday morning. The Citizens have made an offer of fifty million euros plus bonuses to the competitor. City hopes to finalize the deal within 48 hours.

According to the Italian journalist, City manager Josep Guardiola is a big fan of Nunes and the Portuguese midfielder has already accepted a move to the English champion. This is expected to end Nunes’ adventure after just one season the wolveswho took him over from Sporting Portugal for 45 million euros last summer.

Wolverhampton therefore makes ‘only’ five million euros profit on the Portuguese midfielder. Nunes came to 36 Premier League matches at Wolverhampton, in which he scored one goal and gave the same number of assists. Last weekend, the 24-year-old playmaker received a red card in the duel with Brighton & Hove Albion (1-4 loss). As a result, he will not be available for use next weekend.

Nunes has to compete in midfield with Mateo Kovacic, Rodri, Kalvin Phillips and John Stones. He will be City’s third summer acquisition, which earlier this transfer period took over Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig for ninety million euros. The club also incorporated Kovacic, who came over from Chelsea for just under thirty million euros.
