Now that negotiations around Harry Kane are starting to get tough, Manchester City are switching to another option for the striker position. RAI Tuscany, an Italian television channel that is usually well-informed about the news surrounding Fiorentina, assures that City has made an offer of eighty million euros for Dusan Vlahovic. That is ten million euros more than Tottenham Hotpur had left for the striker of La Viola.

The tug-of-war for the Serbian striker has been going on all summer. In addition to City and Tottenham, Atlético Madrid also thought for a long time to get away with the signature of the 21-year-old attack leader. At Tottenham, Vlahovic was seen as a successor to Kane who left for City, but now that the latter does not seem to make the switch, City is switching to the Fiorentina attacker. The first conversations would even have taken place to go through the personal conditions. Given that Tottenham and Atlético have put in a €70m bid, it appears that City have gone over that with a €80m bid.

City is urgently looking for a new center striker and had initially focused on the arrival of Kane. However, those negotiations are so difficult that City has now decided to the Spurs intended successor to Kane himself. An additional advantage is that Vlahovic has to cost about half of what the injury-prone Kane costs. In addition, the Serb is seven years younger. Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso has already said that some amounts “cannot be ignored”. He may be referring to City’s mega bid.

Fiorentina took over Vlahovic in the summer of 2018 for almost two million euros from Partizan Belgrade and after having spent the first two seasons in the top youth team, he broke through in the first team. Vlahovic was regarded as the big revelation in Serie A last season and was good for 21 goals in 37 league games. That generated a lot of interest. At Internazionale, Vlahovic was considered the possible successor to Lautaro Martínez. The Times recently reported on a €70m deal between Inter and Tottenham Hotspur over Martinez, but the Italian champions would not let him go after Romelu Lukaku left for Chelsea.

At Fiorentina, which made several frantic attempts to extend Vlahovic’s contract, Vlahovic will be by far the most expensive outgoing transfer. “At the moment we are in a very difficult situation, because even I as chairman of Fiorentina cannot give any certainty about his future,” Commisso told the news agency about the negotiations. ANSA. “If something happens, the media will be informed in a timely and transparent manner. However, the intention is to keep it.” La Viola has according to Corriere dello Sport already two possible successors in mind: Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo and Andrea Belotti from Torino.
