Relations around Harry Kane were put on quite a sharp edge on Monday. The 28-year-old striker was expected to return to Tottenham Hotspur this week for the start of the new season, but he did not appear on the training ground. Kane invokes a gentlemen’s agreement with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who is being interpreted differently by both sides. Due to the tense situation between Kane and Tottenham, Manchester City – which already made a bid of 100 million euros a month ago – is waiting for the time being.

Fabrizio Romano explains in a live session on his Twitch channel how the situation between Tottenham and Kane currently works. The transfer expert says it is not surprising that Kane did not make an appearance when he was expected back at Tottenham. The entourage of the striker relies on a gentlemen’s agreement with Levy, who will allow him to make a transfer this summer to a club that plays in the Champions League. However, this appointment is no longer accepted by Tottenham: the Spurs want to keep Kane and are willing to fight for it.

At the moment, Manchester City is the only serious candidate. There is no concrete interest from abroad and according to Romano, only the Premier League is currently considered a serious option. Chelsea have yet to reach out and have their sights set on Erling Braut Haaland and Romelu Lukaku, although the latter’s arrival is particularly complicated. Internazionale is in no way prepared to let the Belgian striker go. Romano considers it unlikely that Levy Kane will make a transfer within London.

Manchester City already made an official offer of 100 million pounds – converted 117 million euros – a month ago. The option was left to include a player in the deal. Regardless of the player, the total value of the deal would always be one hundred million euros. Tottenham saw nothing in that and wiped all Manchester City proposals off the table. ‘Something crazy, otherwise Kane stays’, is how Romane formulates Tottenham’s position. Now the reigning champion of England is waiting for the time being. The Citizens know that Kane wants, but at the same time realize that the tense situation is not an ideal time to come up with a new offer.

Tottenham will now try to restore relations with Kane. The situation, according to the London Evening Standard for disappointment at Tottenham, which is forced to hand out a hefty fine. The amount still depends on how the situation around Kane will develop in the coming days. Tottenham would estimate the value of Kane at 175 million euros. Romano predicts an “important week” ahead with regard to Kane’s future.
