Manchester United’s patience with Donny van de Beek is slowly running out, the Manchester Evening News. According to the regional medium, the English superpower is considering reporting to Aston Villa in January for Jack Grealish, who was also emphatically in the picture this summer. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has to pull manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stiffly running team out of the doldrums.

Last summer, Manchester United also thought of Grealish, but according to MEN this interest never materialized. The Red Devils preferred Van de Beek, who came over from Ajax for at least 39 million euros. The Orange midfielder is experiencing an extremely difficult start in England and has to make do with a supporting role. Van de Beek is still waiting for his basic debut in the Premier League and stayed on the bench against Everton (1-3 win) on Saturday.

United wants to provide its midfield with fresh blood again and seems to want to say goodbye to Paul Pogba. The French midfielder has lost his permanent starting place and, according to his national coach Didier Deschamps, ‘cannot be happy with the situation at his club’. “He is not in his best period, he has had a series of injuries and he has been seriously affected by the corona virus,” said Deschamps. “Now he has to find his rhythm again.” Solskjaer currently chooses a midfield with Fred, Scott McTominay and attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Juan Mata may also leave United next summer. The 32-year-old Spaniard has revived this season and regularly plays in the starting line-up from the right flank, but has an expiring contract. A possible departure of Van de Beek, Pogba and / or Mata would free up space for the arrival of Grealish. Even then, his arrival will be difficult to achieve, because Aston Villa is reportedly demanding ninety million euros for its star player. Grealish is also vital this season with four goals and five assists in seven league games the Villans, which are surprisingly sixth.
