Maarten van Rossem expects the viewing figures of VI Today going to collapse. The 78-year-old historian was criticized by René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen for his striking performance at On 1 and hits back in his own podcast. “I think those good viewing figures will not last very long,” said Van Rossem. “Their ratings weren’t great before they started this show.”
Van Rossem caused a sensation last week by talking right through an answer from another guest, David van Weel (assistant secretary general of NATO), in Op1. Van Rossem thought that the senior NATO official had spoken enough, he later stated in his podcast. “Then Sven Kockelmann once again gave the floor to the NATO man, because he found the NATO man quite impressive.
