Seville has three points from the visit to Cádiz: 1-3. The home team took the lead shortly after tea, but a number of golden substitutions by Julen Lopetegui gave Sevilla the three points. Substitute Luuk de Jong, among others, was of great value with a goal.

Europa League winner Sevilla took on Bayern Munich in the Puskás Aréna last Thursday in the battle for the European Supercup. The German superpower took the lead in Budapest in the extension: 1-2. The team of trainer Julen Lopetegui started in Cádiz on Sunday evening with a very tough game. The coach made five changes compared to last Thursday’s game. Luuk de Jong moved to the bench, while Nemanja Gudelj appeared at kick-off. Early in the game, the visitors seemed to take the lead through Lucas Ocampos, but his goal was rejected after intervention by the VAR.

The second half was only a few minutes old when Cádiz took the lead. From the switch, the ball was passed from the left flank. Álvaro Negredo passed with the head, after which Salvador Sánchez pushed the ball unstoppable against the ropes. Lopetegui saw that something had to change and with half an hour to go he made several changes. De Jong, among others, came within the lines and four minutes after coming in, he was already accurate. Jesús Navas led from the right flank and De Jong was able to hit the far post: 1-1.

De Jong’s goal gave Sevilla confidence. The visitors went on a hunt for more and Cádiz had to stop. That went well for a long time, but not long enough. Just before time, it was substitute Joan Jordan who had an unparalleled through ball on Munir El Haddadi. The latter, also a substitute, appeared in front of Cádiz keeper Alberto Cifuentes and scored the 1-2. The disappointment with the home team was enormous. Deep in injury time, Ivan Rakitic sprinkled even more salt into the wound by making the 1-3 on a pass from El Haddadi.
