Luis Enrique seems to have overtaken Julian Nagelsmann as the leading candidate for the Chelsea managerial position. The Spaniard will travel to London with an army of representatives on Wednesday to start negotiations, Fabrizio Romano reports. Enrique made such an impression during a first contact with the Chelsea club management that he has been invited for a closer acquaintance. The former national coach of Spain and trainer of Barcelona should succeed Graham Potter.

While Nagelsmann is still one of the leading candidates for the vacant Chelsea managerial position, Enrique seems to be catching up. The Spanish coach has been out of work since the disappointing World Cup in Qatar. Enrique and his team failed to compete for the medal of honor and stranded in the eighth final against Morocco. Not much later he was evicted by the Spanish federation.

The Independent writes on Wednesday that Enrique has presented Chelsea policymakers with a clear vision. The 52-year-old elector intends to buy a high intensitysystem at Stamford Bridge. Among other things, he wants to appeal to up-and-coming talents. It is not the first time Enrique has been linked with Chelsea. Saw in the past the Blues depends on cooperation due to hefty wage demands and a lack of knowledge of the English language.

Since that rejection, the Spaniard has been working on his personal development, with the aim of giving him a second serious chance. Former teammate and agent Iván de la Peña has traveled to London with Enrique to conduct negotiations. Until the appointment of a new trainer, the responsibility lies with Bruno Saltor. The former Brighton and Hove Albion player did not get further than a 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Tuesday.
