Louis van Gaal will be Telstar’s trainer for one game next season. The one-time appointment of Van Gaal at the club from the Kitchen Champion Division is a stunt to promote the Telstar lottery, the proceeds of which go to supporter facilities and charities. The winner of the main prize may act as Van Gaal’s assistant during the relevant match.
A playful promotional video shows that Van Gaal is already practicing a balcony scene, in case he wins a prize with Telstar: “We are not only the best in IJmuiden, but…” He is then interrupted by his wife Truus to give his to sign a contract. With chairman Pieter de Waard, Van Gaal decides that a lottery will be organized to determine who will be his assistant.

Van Gaal then calls on everyone to apply for an assistant by purchasing a ticket. “If you want to screw up a match with me, buy these tickets,” said the experienced trainer. The tickets are for sale via www.louismoetwinnen.nl. The proceeds of the lottery will go to the Spieren voor Spieren, of which Louis and Truus van Gaal are honorary ambassadors, and to the Dare to Dream foundation. This foundation is an initiative of former Telstar player Redouan El Yaakoubi, who is committed to helping youth in the Utrecht district of Overvecht.
